Will Ong.Social Be The Next Facebook Or The Next TSU?

The other day on our YouTube channel we released a brief overview of Ong.Social which is a brand new social network. Unlike several others this one is ‘built on the blockchain’, and has plans to begin paying out in cryptocurrency.  In fact, OnG is a cryptocurrency itself and over the weekend their ICO for this coin launched.

Exciting times lay ahead! Specifically for Ong.Social, which potentially could become the Next Facebook.

Then Again, will Ong.Social be the Next TSU?

TSU was an exciting social network that launched about two years ago, but went out of business. We attached ourselves to that network, and believed in the vision. However, there are plenty of reasons for why TSU didn’t make it. So many of these reasons stand as valuable lessons, that Ong.Social will want to avoid if it wants to become the Next Facebook.

That was TSU’s mission afterall, just like so many social networks. They are the granddaddy and so, naturally they are the goal as well.  If you’re running a social network and don’t want to become as big as facebook, then what are you doing?  Why are you even in the space for, if you aren’t striving to be the best!?

TSU took it’s jab, and did so unsuccessfully. I’ll give you a few reasons why right now.

The $100 minimum payout that TSU established was just far too high!   When earnings are based on views, and the value your profile is bringing to the network then those earnings are sure to vary. The way the business model was set up for TSU gave people with the ability to refer others, an advantage over others. It also made it much easier for some to reach the payout, than it did for others.

Being paid in ‘fiat dollars’ may also be a strategy that has exhausted itself.  Right alongside the idea of asking people to ‘pay to use a social network’, we have come to discover that no one really wants to be paid in dollars. Getting paid in cryptocurrency though? That’s a much more exciting proposition.

TSU also had too many changes to their compensation model, which I feel was  a reaction to yet another failure on their part. They added a report button, and that’s always a huge risk.   Whenever websites give the power to the community to regulate others on the community it’s problematic.  False flagging is a real challenge in the social network universe, and some companies handle these ‘reports’ better than others. The simple fact is, TSU was not ready to properly handle reports, which often led to people losing their social profiles and all accumulated earnings.

Once the word spread that people were losing their accounts on TSU, activity dropped.  With a business model who’s income is based on ads, which are tied to activity, it was a formula for failure. This led to changing the platform several times, and it simply never caught up!

If OnG.Social wants to be the Next Facebook, and avoid being the Next TSU, this is what they’ll want to do.

Don’t change anything from how it is right now.

That’s a major one… because eventually change will have to occur. Nothing ever stays the same and if it does, it usually falls behind the times. But OnG.Social has something good on it’s hands right now.   The plans for their future, that I have seen so far look great to me.

Currently you can request a payout whenever you’re ready. They are giving you a $10 bonus just to sign up, an then your earnings are based on ‘views and clicks’ from there on out. Currently you can be paid via paypal or request a check. However, in the future you’ll be able to cash out to multiple cryptocurrency wallets (BTC, ETH or WAVES)

If you’ve followed TopnetworkersGroup for a while then you’re aware that we’ve been out in front of these social networks.  We aligned ourselves with Crazygood, and put a decent sized team into that opportunity.  Through TSU, we also had a large network of referrals who we hoped would benefit greatly.  Unfortunately those sites went out of business. That’s all part of business however. Risk comes with anything we attempt to do. TSU Closes Down: The Social Network Experiment Ends

TSU Closes down leaving several people who were excited about the social network disappointed!

In case you have not heard by now, On the first of August 2016, the CEO and Founder of TSU, Sebastian Sobczak announced that TSU would be closing down.  Folding up its’ operations at the end of the month.  As TSU closes down you can garauntee that I had plenty to say about it. But I decided to keep most of my thoughts short and contained – and ‘may’ share a bit more later.

Any Business Can Go out of Business.

They had so much potential but, it takes more than Potential to be successful in business.

That idea is one of the founding principles of TopNetworkersGroup.com – I started this company, this team, and this organization after realizing that we are indeed, at the beginning of the 5th Wave of Network Marketing. You can read all about that in our blog. The industry of network marketing has evolved to a very exciting point – there are literally an unending stream of ways to make money. There are a lot of decent companies and yet, this founding principle remains ever true. Any business can go out of business.

As TSU Closes down I am reminded of the general business statistics that you’ll find if you look them up. Most businesses do not make it past the first 5 years. In fact, 90% fail.

Out of the 10% that are able to make it out of the first 5 years – only 5% of those businesses make it to a full 10 years in business.

This makes building a stable income within network marketing very difficult to do, when we consider the landscape.

On one hand you have your more ‘established’ network marketing companies that have been around past that 10 year mark. The likelihood that they’ll be around for another 10 years is very high.

But, the ‘saturation myth’ is heavy in these companies. In many cases a lot of people have heard of that opportunity; but there are always people who have NEVER heard of it. However, this ‘mental obstacle is difficult’ for many people to overcome.  This is what keeps people So interested in these brand NEW opportunities. Companies that are in pre-launch are what’s considered to be, below mud level opportunities. They’re not even ground floor yet. The common belief in business is that you want to be in, on the ground floor.

Business people with experience however, know that this isn’t always beneficial to you as a business person. Sometimes being in early is great; other times it’s not so great and hopefully the company will be around long enough for you to recoup your investment.

As TSU closes down the ‘good thing’ here is none of us invested any money.

Some of you invested, way too much time though.

I feel that the handling of tsu’ssocial network was poor on behalf of the staff. They had a great idea but did not really invest the time/resources in ‘teaching people’ how to use their social network. Far too many people were literally liking and sharing posts, just for the sake of liking and sharing posts. People were commenting ‘nice’ on posts, that sometime were not nice subjects. People were doing this because too many of them were under the impression that they were being paid ‘per like’, ‘per share’ and ‘per comment’.

This misunderstanding, in my mind is the primary reason that we’re now here, discussing the fact that TSU closes down in LESS than 2 years of operations. The social network launched in *November of 2014;  and didn’t even reach the END of 2016 – before announcing that it would be shutting it’s doors. They’re allowing us to ‘download our content’, but as TSU Closes down, what’s happening to all the money they owe people?

Money was generated by each user, just for being on TSU – I’ll list some of the resources I created ‘for’ TSU which contain some valuable information on ‘business in general’. it’s important in this day and age, as a marketer to understand how money is generated from ad-revenue boxes – especially since the Smart marketers like ‘you’ are employing them on your blogs and websites ….

I wrote about issues TSU needed to listen to; In Ello NSFW Email Is Big News – TSU Better Listen – I talked about how there were some tolerance issues that TSU needed to ‘ease up’ on for the network to survive. The censorship issues and the fact that people were willy nilly with reporting other members helped drive away the people who were contributing content.

I made this meme because of these ‘social media post nazi’s’ who were reporting anyone who posted what they didn’t want to see – rather than simply block, or unfriend people.

That, along with far too many users posting photos, and photos, and photos, while ignoring ‘real world issues’ that typically bring people together in the first place. The reason FB is so popular is because, people post Everything on that network; Literally everything – even some things that we as a society deem Unfit to be seen; and occasionally of course, depending on HOW unfit it is, FB lets people share what they want to share.  (with a few exceptions of course) – and that’s what helps FB grow. People have ‘space’ to do their thing and can connect with like minds. They can even debate and argue on ‘the book’ and that’s what other networks like twitter, instagram, and … you know, successful social networks do.

For example: people would get into ‘fights/disagreements’ on the TSU and suddenly their ‘account’ is closed or deleted. The money they made on TSU, gone. The time they spent on TSU, wasted…. As  TSU closes down, all of us can relate to people who found their accounts removed.

Fights happen on ‘social networks’ though and it helps keep people ‘engaged‘ – whether we care to be honest and admit it or not – which brings people back to the site; which generates money

They didn’t take the censorship issue seriously, the lack of quality posting or interaction seriously, nor did they allow people the freedom to have their own ‘space’ to share what mattered to them without being harassed by other users –  and now, TSU closes down while Ello continues to … peddle along.

But, as TSU closes down many of us ARE asking that question and perhaps MORE of us need to. What happens to all the money they owe people who didn’t reach that $100 cashout?  Was there a clause we missed that stated they do not owe us our money if we didn’t hit that mark? Or just that they’d only SEND money to us if we hit that mark? Hopefully we can get some answers. If the agreement was that they’d only ‘send money’ to us, that stipulates that they are In business, and sending out checks. Going out of business though, to me it seems would almost invalidate our agreement and puts TSU on the hook, for quite a bit of money. Even if it’s .03 – someone generated money FOR TSU, for them to be owed .03 …… I feel it should be paid.

TSU Social Network Review

Full disclosure about this TSU Social Network Review: I’ve been using TSU since November of 2014 when they launched this one of a kind platform, and I’ve enjoyed 90% of my time there.

Why only 90% you might ask? Well, keep reading as I’m going to get into what I love, and what I didn’t love – during my First Year on TSU.

So let’s get into what makes the TSU social network slightly different from the major social networks in our industry today. Naturally we have to start out by mentioning the giants, like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, because they were largely responsible for ‘the idea’ behind TSU. Also, we have to take a moment to give props to YouTube, for being one of the first social ‘platforms’ to pay their content creators a portion of the ad revenue their videos generate, for YouTube.

Several social networks accept advertising dollars but none of them are sharing those profits with us.

That is where TSU comes in, and they sure made an entrance!

In just the first few weeks TSU crossed the 1 Million Members plateau and has continued to grow ever since.  In contrast it took Facebook 10 months, and Twitter took 24 months to reach 1 Million users.  Currently the social network has just over 4 Million users; although not all of them are as active as they really should be. What this means is that there is still a HUGE opportunity for anyone who takes advantage of what’s available right now.  You’ll find that as you read through my TSU Social network review, I’m going to be frank and honest with you.

In fact, that’s what I’ve been the entire time, when I shared some of my thoughts on the Censorship ‘issues’ on the network, some of which are still there.

What if people were using the TSU Social Network, like they use Other networks?

This is really where our review is going to get good. If you’ve already been looking around then you know by now that TSU is JUST like Facebook. I mean everything you can do on facebook (for the most part) is possible on TSU. I mean, what do we really USE facebook for anyways? Don’t most of us use them to keep in touch with friends and family? Don’t we use them to share what matters to us and to interact with people we like?

Well if that’s the case, why are so many of us choosing to do those things on a network that does NOT pay us; when there is a network that will pay us??

That’s really the Million dollar question folks.

Right now, far too many people have used TSU ‘to make money’ rather than, using TSU to be social.

If you’re looking at making money on TSU, the best way to do that is to just let it happen. Be social and let the rest take care of itself. You should be looking for OTHER ways to make money if you NEED money; This is not going to be a quick fix. However if you spend the time to refer others to the social network, who also do the same, you could end up in a VERY good position to benefit financially. Already there are members on TSU who are making $100 per month.  There’s also a whole lot of people only making  a few dollars, and a few pennies per month.

Whether it’s a few pennies or a few dollars; it’s more than you’re going to make on any other social network.

But, what if more people were using TSU every single day, like people do on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter? I mean, the daily traffic on TSU now isn’t too bad. There’s a lot of active users. But what if there were MORE? For example; I’ve referred 65 people to TSU (as of this writing) and have a network of JUST under 700 people. Most of my network is not active.

IF they were active, I’d be easily crossing that $100/mo barrier that several others are crossing – every 30 days.

But if that were the case – there’d be even MORE money generated.

How much do the Censorship and False Flagging issues have to do with people not being as active as they should?  Not much at all.

The truth is, because people are using it ‘to make money’ when they see a few pennies they decide it’s not ‘worth the time’ ………..

People aren’t all that intelligent.

I’m not the first to say this, but we are living in a dumbed down society.

There are some people who won’t use TSU just because someone they know might benefit. They’d rather use social networks that Won’t pay them a dime; so that a total stranger can make money from the Content they are sharing every single day. Content matters. Content has value. And the way websites work, if your site is generating traffic – and you’re smart enough to monetize that traffic – you can make some really good money online. Facebook, for example, made over $250 Billion in 2014 – all from advertising; all because of how much Traffic they get each month.

How Much Money COULD the TSU Social Network Make You?

If you’ve been paying attention – the sky is the limit.

But a lot has to happen before TSU really turns into a ‘money maker’ for more people.

However, that’s very possible.

As each month goes by, more and more people hear about this network. More and more people sign up.

Eventually, it’s going to hit a point where ‘famous people’ are endorsing it, and that’s when TSU is going to take off. You know, in our society people don’t do anything unless the ‘celebrities’ endorse it first. While there are a few good celebrity endorsements on there already (Like Carmelo Anthony, 50cent and others) … it’s still not the kind of buzz it needs, to truly compete.

That being said – would you rather wait till that happens or get POSITIONED now?

Ello NSFW Email Is Big News – TSU Better Listen

Seriously I’ve been waiting for the right moment to do that lol.

But let me not waste any of your time – as you have a LOT To sift through here. I will be as brief as possible in my pre-amble. Although it’s very necessary that I set this up for you.

Yesterday, I received an email from Ello – a new private social network that launched right around the same time as TSU; Both are invitation only – and naturally because of my network I got an invitation to both networks very early on. I joined both – and to this day I have only logged into Ello maybe 5 times total.

I signed up in November of 2014.

Around the same time I signed up for a new social network called TSU – a social network promising to pay it’s members for our posts. It was free, and I figured what the hell; worst case scenario it will be another source of traffic for me to use. Right from the start I liked TSU so much more than I liked Ello.

To be clear that is still my stance at the writing of this blog – However – ever since joining TSU There has been some bumps in the road; I mean that is always the case with anything new. So while I did expect the bumps, I cannot say I have been a fan of them all. Namely, what I will refer to as; Puritans and Quakers.

In the world of social networks most of the Puritans and Quakers hang out on what I like to call “Open Networks” – Sites like Google+ for example; where literally anyone can access anyone else on that network. This openness is also why there is a YouTube False Flagging problem  – because youTube is also an Open Network. Anyone with an account can log in and start posting comments on people’s videos. Anyone can give thumbs up, thumbs down; Or … flag your video.

I do not want to get into why that is a problem since I’ve already written about the problem twice now; (Also in this post about why Ray Higdon said bye bye to YouTube)

Please Listen.

I am about to share an email with you that I got from Ello – in this email you will see something that I feel the TSU community needs to listen to; and take heed – if they expect to survive the tumultuous nature of business. Any business can go out of business; and while I really love the TSU platform; if they allow what is happening on their network to continue; it will be the end of TSU.

Following Google’s decision to ban NSFW content from Blogger (followed by an awkward reversal), we decided to celebrate freedom of speech on Ello by naming March NSWF Month.

You can’t ban some content without seriously impacting freedom of speech for everyone.

The last people we want to dictate what we can’t say on the Internet are the advertisers that control big ad-based social networks. Ello doesn’t believe in censorship, and because Ello is ad-free, we will always be a dependable haven for free speech.

Help us celebrate NSFW Month on Ello by posting and discussing ideas about free speech, censorship, and why it’s important that Internet remain open and free.

…. The TSU community MUST listen to what I am about to say.

Just because some people are offended by NSFW (Not safe for work) material, does not mean the person sharing it, has no right to share it. They can and will go to a different social network if they feel like TSU is jail. Censorship is not cool, and if TSU wants to be  a cool community, which Ello is so desperate to be – TSU must pay attention.

I had an incident on TSU early on that I never shared. I filmed it – and have the videos on ‘private’ in case I need to show them to people. Let me explain what happened and how it’s relevant to this Ello NSFW Email.

A gentleman opted into my email-list; and apparently it was his first time ever doing it because he thought the emails going out (automatically and pre-written I should add) – were specifically written to him. That’s a real good thing actually – and it’s one of my aims when I write emails to go out; I want the person reading it to feel like I am talking JUST to that person.

Apparently it worked too good with this guy.

He was already knit-picking at TSU (early on) – and had left comments on my wall outlining in great detail, why he felt Google+ was a better network than TSU; and why TSU wouldn’t last. So it was no surprise to me that he found flaws with me, after opting into my email list. Apparently the guys brother dies – a day or two after he gets on my email – and the message that goes out, reaches him at a bad time.

However his reaction was worse!

The guy starts slandering me on TSU; he shares the email that went out to over 1,000 people; and Inserts his Responses to what I wrote throughout; he even slips up and calls me a Monkey – and a Sub-Human Creature a couple of times.

I realize that’s ‘code language’ – for racial slurs – and while others may want to debate it; I know what I know – and I immediately Film and Document what has happened. Sadly I’m aware that other people will read what he writes; and will believe what he has to say; similar to how Officer Darren Wilson was believed – based entirely upon what he had to say – about that fateful day in Ferguson, MO.

It’s just one of the issues we all are forced to deal with while living in this kind of society; Now to tie this all in together.

The people who still practice racism in 2015 – are the same people who seek to control the freedoms of other people. The guy upset at an email i sent out, was attempting to get support – so that he could shut down my TSU account. Racist people have a big problem with educated black men. Any black man who dares talk in an intelligent manner is almost  immediately attacked with hate. However they will use words that ‘don’t sound as bad’ – in order to garner support for their darker agendas.

We need to know these things; as it will help us with deciding who’s leading us toward light; and who’s leading us away from light. People who want to oppress other people – are following dark masters; and we need to dis-empower those people; not empower them.

The Big News of this Ello NSFW email – is that they recognize how important it is to allow people to express themselves. Facebook and Twitter both have NSFW sections – Google+ and YouTube however; do not. They allow their members to act like cyber-police – reporting and flagging one another; They empower a cyber-kkk like collection of people, to decide who has the ‘right’ to express themselves; and who does not.

Declaring March NSFW Month, is going to send ripples through the Social Networking world; on the heels of the victory of Net Neutrality the TSU community must listen.

They (anyone) must overlook how they (infamous they) feel about a black man who speaks out about racism; whether they agree with what I have to say about that or not; and hear the clear message that it’s not okay for one human to attempt to silence another.

If TSU allows it; it will be the death of the network.

TSU should embrace this moment; Change their NSFW Policy; add/or Create one; and let the members know that they will no longer be empowered to use TSU simply to go around tattling on other members.  The Ello NSFW email is a game changer – if only they were paying me to post; I’d immediately start using their network more.

*Update 12/18/2015 :: Did TSU ever Listen to what we had to say about the Ello NSFW approach?

I can’t really say for sure but, I’m still using the platform and so are millions of others. That’s my year review – which goes in depth on what I actually like about this platform. I also have to say that their handling of censorship issues has been pretty impressive as they use real Human beings for customer support. Where as the Ello NSFW approach sorta allows a hands off moderation for the people over at Ello, what TSU does by allowing people to report ‘possibly unsafe content’ works out, because actual people are handling the emails when Posts/Content is flagged and removed; Read more in the update. Meanwhile, in spite of the ello nsfw approach, I’m still barely ever using that site. It seems like they continue to improve but, I wouldn’t know!

Facebook Down, Instagram WhatsApp Too; DDos Attack

Today Facebook and it’s family of social media platforms are down; Facebook Down, Instagram Down, WhatsApp is down too. The outages apparently the result of a DDos Attack. Not too long ago I cut a video that you can see below, about why Facebook Sucks for Network Marketers. I feel that too many people in network marketing rely on this platform ‘only’, and tune out other options to use, while building. Along with the attraction to automation, networkers are losing the much needed human touch.

Plus with Facebook Down, and others you see how fragile your business can be.

“if”, this is how you’re building your business.  That facebook “Live” you were using isn’t going out to most of your audience today. The IG TV show you put together to launch your business, also failed you today. A while back, sites using facebook as a way for members to login, were unable to serve their customer bases. (Because users could not log in.)

Throughout the years, it’s grown too popular and far too powerful. I no longer use their ‘comment section’, so that our site is not going to go down, when Facebook is.

With Facebook down, we get lessons on ‘all your eggs in one basket’. This is an argument for diversity, and decentralization. more than likely Facebook, IG and WhatsApp will recover from this DDos Attack. Knowing these can happen at any time however, should make you, think more deeply about your approach to building.

Use TheConversionPros to build lead capture pages, landing pages, and use their auto responders to Market ‘directly’ to your leads through email.  Email marketing is a lost art. I guess the argument is, people don’t read their emails anymore.  It’s not a lie though.

Readers are leaders and frankly, the industry is missing Leaders … who Read ….

We used to recommend ‘building through our 1mlmsystem Live Office’, but now we have “The Secret Office”.  All part of The Rich Man’s Plan from TNG, it is a similar concept. When building, you and I have to get prospects ‘out’ of environments with distractions. Back in the day that meant going to a hotel conference room, or ballroom meeting. Pulling people out of environments that distract them, help you build better teams. Teams of people who will read email they see, from you.

While facebook down trends, and jokes are made on twitter, lessons await to teach the Student who is Ready.

This user isn’t joking, they’re… very frustrated.


Again, this is what happens when people don’t spread themselves out. Again, I’m the guy who blamed ‘the people’ when Crazygood went out of business. I said people using it, did not place value on using the network. They all kept putting value on Facebook. That ‘same energy’ has gone into instagram, and that’s why facebook bought them. When TSU rolled out, the same thing happened again.  Folks didn’t use it ‘like they used’ facebook.  Too many people treated it like something different, and that’s why it went out of business.
